Privacy policy
1. Controller
The controller for the processing of personal data on this website is the operator of the Global Estate Awards, reachable via the contact form on this website.
2. Hosting and server log files
This website is hosted by Vercel Inc., 340 S Lemon Ave #4133, Walnut, CA 91789, USA. Content is delivered through a global network with locations including Frankfurt am Main. As Vercel is a US company, processing of data in the USA cannot be ruled out.
When you visit the website, Vercel automatically processes technical access data (IP address, date and time of the request, page requested, browser type) in server log files. This is necessary for the operation, stability and security of the website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). We do not combine this data with other sources.
For transfers to the USA, Vercel relies on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and a certification under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
3. Award entries
When you submit an entry, we process the information you provide in the form: award and category, your name, role, company, email address, phone number (optional), country, city (optional), website (optional), the content of your entry and the links to your material, and how you heard about us (optional).
We use this data to check and judge your entry, to contact you about it and, if your entry is shortlisted or wins, to present it as described in the entry rules. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR, as your participation is governed by the entry rules you accept when entering.
The content of your entry is made available to the members of the jury for judging. Contact details are not shared with the jury unless needed to verify a claim.
Entries are delivered to our mailbox by the email service Resend (Resend, Inc., USA), which acts as our processor. A data processing agreement is in place with Resend; the transfer to the USA is based on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses (Art. 46 GDPR). For reliability and troubleshooting, the content of an entry may also briefly appear in the server logs of our hosting provider.
To protect the form against automated spam, we use an invisible control field, a minimum completion time and a limit on submissions per sender. For this, the IP address is checked briefly in working memory and not stored permanently.
4. Draft saved in your browser
While you fill in the entry form, your answers are saved in the local storage of your browser so that you can continue later. This data stays on your device and is not transmitted to us until you submit the entry. It is deleted after a successful submission or when you choose “Start over”, and you can remove it at any time by clearing your browser data. This storage is strictly necessary for the function you request (§ 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG).
5. No cookies, no analytics or advertising services
This website does not set cookies and does not use any third party analytics, advertising or map services. Fonts are hosted locally. No connection to Google font servers is made when you visit the website.
6. Contact form
If you write to us via the contact form, we process your name, your email address, your company (optional) and your message only to answer your request (Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR). Your message is delivered to our mailbox by Resend as described in section 3. We do not pass your data on without your consent and delete it when your request has been dealt with, unless legal retention obligations apply.
7. Storage period
We keep entries for the duration of the 2027 edition and for up to three years afterwards to document the results, unless you ask us to delete them earlier and no legal obligation prevents this. Published information about shortlisted and winning entries remains in the archive of this website as long as it exists; you can object to this at any time.
8. Your rights
You have the right of access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16 GDPR), erasure (Art. 17 GDPR), restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR) and data portability (Art. 20 GDPR). You can object at any time, with effect for the future, to processing based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (Art. 21 GDPR). To exercise these rights, simply contact us via the contact form on this website.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.
